While more and more allogeneic stem cell therapies emerge from the lab into (pre-)clinical studies and find their way into medical application, large-scale production of sensitive stem cells is still an unsolved challenge. In this session, the German start-up BioThrust presents its novel bionic bioreactor ComfyCell for the first time in America. The ComfyCell is a next generation bioreactor for the scalable manufacturing of stem and immune cell therapies at unprecedented productivity levels. It’s unique Membrane Stirrer enables bubble-free bioreactor aeration with sufficient gas entry for the first time. While many CGT expansion systems still face large challenges to scale to industrial scale, the BioThrust technology is proven on a 200-liter scale! In this session, BioThrust will, presides presentation of the ComfyCell, also show novel, thus far undisclosed data on the expansion as well as differentiation of MSCs, iPSCs and organoids in the ComfyCell generated in collaboration with leading CDMOs and academic partners.
