Concurrent Session 9
Education Session
Launched in 2019 with funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF), the Promotions and Tenure Innovation and Entrepreneurship (PTIE) Coalition is pursuing a more inclusive assessment of scholarship and creative activity. The goal is to better recognize and reward innovation and entrepreneurship (I&E) and promotion and tenure (P&T) process in higher education nationwide. In 2020, more than 75 universities and national organizations joined the PTIE Coalition and approved recommendations to include I&E achievements in faculty P&T criteria. In this session, we’ll review the successes, metrics for tracking progress, and key lessons learned from multiple institutions that have begun implementing the PTIE recommendations.
