Room 242AB
Corporate Session
Overcoming cell therapy manufacturing challenges with automation, scalability, and process flexibility

Speakers
Hany Meås, Staff Scientist, Cell Therapy, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Norway
Evan Zynda, PhD., Senior Scientist, Thermo Fisher Scientific, United States

Cell therapy continues to demonstrate immense promise. However, manual intervention and the lack of fit-for-purpose scalable technologies led to challenges in safety, efficacy, and cost. An end-to-end automated workflow, composed of scalable modules could provide improved safety, flexibility, and opportunities to optimize the manufacturing process. Our Gibco™ CTS™ DynaCellect™ Magnetic Separation System and the Gibco™ CTS™ Xenon™ Electroporation System are closed, automated and scalable devices that can operate as stand-alone or be integrated into existing workflows. To reduce time and improve the biological precision during process automation, our new Gibco™ CTS™ Detachable Dynabeads™ platform technology is designed with an active detachment mechanism from target cells. To improve cell expansion, Gibco™ CTS™ OpTmizer One™, is an animal origin-free T cell culture medium that has been designed to support best-in-class expansion and maintenance of early and central memory T cell markers that are associated with improved therapeutic efficacy. In combination with the CTS OpTmizer One development, we are leveraging our Thermo Scientific™ DynaDrive™ technology to create bioreactors tailored to improve process control of immune cell therapy manufacturing. These innovations will bolster our growing cell therapy portfolio through scalable and flexible automated solutions with focus on cost efficiency and biological precision.
