1F - Inventor Portals: Invention Disclosures and Beyond
Monday, March 15, 2021 01:15 PM - 02:00 PM   EDT
Nuts and Bolts of Technology Transfer

When designed effectively, inventor portals give technology transfer offices (TTOs) the ability to engage with researchers in more positive, customized, and interactive ways. Online invention submission systems offer an alternative to tedious, and confusing paperwork, increasing disclosure accuracy, completeness, and quality. Once the disclosure is submitted, the inventor portal can allow researchers to track their invention through the evaluation and patenting process. The portal can also enhance TTO operations with automated reminders and online requests for non-disclosure agreements and material transfer agreements. This session will present the experiences of several TTOs that have online disclosure systems and other components of inventor portals using a variety of systems, including Sophia, Inteum, Innovate IP, and proprietary systems.
