Genetic Engineering Approaches: A Biological Recipe to Gene-Modified Cell Therapies
Thursday, September 5, 2024 01:45 PM - 02:45 PM
F4-5
Concurrent Session
Chair:
  • Vincenzo Di Cerbo, PhD, Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult, United Kingdom

Speakers:
  • Benjamin Klapholz, PhD, bit.bio, United Kingdom - A robust, predictable and safe genome engineering platform for precision programming and cell therapy manufacturing
  • Luke Pase, PhD, Anocca AB, Sweden - Advancing TCR-T Therapies: Enhancing Scale-Out Through Non-Viral Gene Engineering
  • Vlad Seitan, PhD, Laverock Therapeutics, United Kingdom - Leveraging miRNAs for the design of cell therapies programmed with conditional gene silencing

Over the past decade, the successful application of genetic engineering tools augmenting cellular properties or correcting DNA mutations has paved the way to the development of groundbreaking ex vivo and in vivo cell and gene therapies. However, the complexity of these products is a barrier to a consistent and controllable manufacturing. In this concurrent session, we will explore how combining deep understanding of the biological systems with innovative cellular engineering strategies is addressing the quest of developing the next-generation of affordable therapies.

Session Objectives

  1. Discuss novel trends in cell engineering and synthetic biology and how these are being integrated in next-generation cell and gene therapies.
  2. Explore how deep biological knowledge may be leveraged to improve therapies designs and attributes.
  3. Discover translational data supporting successful application of engineered biology strategies to cell therapy development.
