I am currently the director of my own clinic, Sobajima Clinic, located in Osaka, Japan, a position I have held for 12 years. Throughout my 32-year career as an orthopedic specialist, I have been deeply involved in regenerative medicine using PRP and stem cells for the treatment of orthopedic diseases over the past 10 years. In collaboration with academia, I have also contributed to the development of new treatments using stem cells, publishing six medical papers since 2020. Today, I am eager to share insights from Japan’s experience in regulating clinical access to unapproved and unproven cell therapies over the past decade. We believe our learnings can serve as a valuable model for other markets facing similar challenges.
