Ignacio is currently Chief Operating Officer of CellReady, a reimagined CDMO based in Houston, Texas. Prior to taking this position, Ignacio founded BioExcellence Consulting in 2019, bringing a unique blend of strategic vision, operational acumen, and hands-on experience to the field of cell and gene therapy. With over 20 years of track record managing operations across multiple fields - including pharma, medical devices and advanced materials - Ignacio applies transferable continuous improvement processes from more mature industries to streamline the manufacturing of cell and gene therapies.
Prior to founding BioExcellence, Ignacio served as COO at Kiromic, where he was directly responsible for scaling up operations, designing and building their manufacturing facility and designing the QA systems for their gamma delta CAR-T program.
Ignacio has worked in companies including General Electric, Johnson & Johnson, University of Pennsylvania’s Gene Therapy program and Novartis. As head of operations excellence and strategy at Novartis, he played a critical role in the ramp up of Kymriah.
He received his B.S. and M.Sc. degrees in Chemical Engineering from the University of Granada and is Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt certified
