Ruiz Astigarraga, Head of Manufacturing at CellPoint, a Galapagos company. In his current role, Ruiz is responsible for cell therapy manufacturing operations in the CellPoint global network of point-of-care GMP manufacturing sites. He started at CellPoint 2 years ago to support the mission of an innovative CAR-T point-of-care manufacturing model with a 1 week vein-to-vein time. He has previously worked at Kite, leading process validation and comparability to enable approval of Kite's CAR-T commercial manufacturing facility in the Netherlands. He started his career at Novartis, working several years in vaccines and biologics commercial manufacturing, international technology transfers, process validation and start-up of GMP manufacturing facilities. Ruiz holds a Masters degree in Microbiology.
