Rob’s background was initially in Hematology and Blood Transfusion Science, qualifying as Fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Scientists (FIBMS) in 1986. He worked for the UK National Blood Service (now NHSBT) at their Birmingham laboratories for 10 years before moving into commercial roles with DuPont, and Thermo Fisher Scientific.
In 2004 he set up the Thermo Fisher Bioservices UK facility in Bishops Stortford, UK and directed the business as General Manager, supporting the supply chain of over 100 advanced therapy clinical trials from Phase I to Phase III
He joined Cryoport in 2018 and is now responsible for the strategic expansion of Cryoport's Bioservices initiative and oversees the introduction of new facilities and services in the field of clinical supply chain support.
His main areas of interest are in supply chain management of advanced therapies, cryogenic storage and packaging, and the development of innovation and technology in ultra low temperature and cryogenic workflows.
He is also a Member of the Royal Society of Biology and Member of the Institute of Clinical Research.
