Rachele Ciccocioppo is Associate Professor in Gastroenterology at the Gastroenterology Unit, Department of Medicine, A.O.U.I. Policlinico G.B. Rossi & University of Verona (Italy) since May 2017. After degree with honor as Medical Doctor in July 1987, she achieved first the specialization in Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy on November 1991, and then in Internal Medicine on June 2014. She was Academic Visitor and Research Associate at the Department of Neurophysiology of The Flinders University of Adelaide (South Australia), and at the Research Laboratories of the Department of Internal Medicine of the University of Erlangen-Nürberg (Germany). Since 2016, she is member of the International Society for Cell & Gene Therapy (ISCT) and co-Funder and co-Chair of the GI Committee. From 2020, she was appointed first Deputy Chief Scientific Officer and then Chief Scientific Officer at the ISCT. She has been invited as speaker in many national and international congresses, and she is referee of many scientific journals in the field of clinical and experimental Gastroenterology, Immunology, cell therapy and regenerative medicine. She is co-author of about 150 full papers, 300 abstracts presented at national and international congresses and 20 scientific book chapters. She was Coordinator or Head of Research Unit in several cooperative projects, both Italian and International, and Principal Investigator in several multicentre clinical trials on the study of new therapeutic tools in inflammatory bowel diseases. Her main fields of interest are the following: biology and clinical application of mesenchymal stem/stromal cells, management of chronic inflammatory enteropathies; opportunistic infections in Gastroenterology.
