Massimo is born on 1972, he has a MD degree cum laude at University of Pavia and a Post-graduate internship at the Vienna University; residency cum laude in Hematology at University of Ferrara and Post-Doctoral Associate at St. Jude Children Hospital in Memphis (USA). He is Full Professor of Oncology, Director of the Oncology Division and of the Residency School in Oncology at the University Hospital of Modena and Reggio Emilia (Modena). Since 2005 he is heading the Laboratory of Cellular Therapies with over 24 Mio € (13.4 as PI) in research grants, almost 250 papers, 40000 citations and H-index of 57, 12 patents. More than 250 invited lectures. Founder of the University start-up Rigenerand srl, now Evotec Modena srl. Advisor for several biotech/pharma companies. Co-founder of the Forum of Italian Researcher on MSC (FIRST). Former board member of JACIE, WBMT and scientific advisor for the Italian Minister of Health. Member of ISCT, ESMO, AIOM. He has been President of ISCT 2014-2016, Emeritus Member of ISCT and now Member of the ISCT Strategic Advisory Council. From October 2019 expert advisory Panel member of the INN for cell and gene therapy of the World Health Organization in Genève
