Ewa K. Zuba-Surma PhD, DSc Full Professor, Head of Research group. President of Polish Society for Extracellular Vesicles Faculty of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Biotechnology, Jagiellonian University Poland


Prof. Ewa Zuba-Surma is a group leader in Department of Cell Biology at the Faculty of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Biotechnlogy at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow.
Prof. Zuba-Surma graduated from Jagiellonian University in Krakow in Poland where she also got her PhD degree in molecular and cell biology and immunology. She got her professional training in stem cell biology working also in USA research institutions during her 4-year postdoctoral fellowships, including at the Institute of Molecular Cardiology and Stem Cell Biology Institute at the University of Louisville, KY,USA. She then come back to Poland where she continues her independent research at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. She has been a Visiting Professor at the Kansas University Medical School and currently at the University of Nevada in USA.
Prof. Zuba-Surma’s research interest is focused on studying biological properties and applications of selected stem cell populations and their EVs for their future use in tissue regeneration, especially in ischemic tissue repair. She is also focused on translational actions including designing an clinical trial with use of MSCs in patients with osteoarthrosis (OA).
Prof. Zuba-Surma is an author of more than 100 publications in stem cell and extracellular vesicle fields and co-authors of patent and patent applications in stem cell field. She was awarded by several national and international prices and stipends for scientific achievements and she is actively founded by several grant agencies for her work in stem cell and EV field (NCN, NCBiR, FNP).
