Lynn O'Donnell PhD Director, Cell Therapy Manufacturing & Engineering The Ohio State University USA


Lynn O'Donnell, PhD is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hematology and Director of Cell Therapy Manufacturing and Engineering at The Ohio State University (OSU) Comprehensive Cancer Center – James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute. She has more than 22 years of experience in routine cell processing for active adult and pediatric BMT and Cell Therapy programs, adding investigational cell therapy manufacturing beginning in 2015. She currently oversees an ISO8-classified Cell Therapy Laboratory (CTL) with an ISO7 GMP suite located in the James Cancer Hospital, and separate translational process development and quality control laboratories. Dr. O’Donnell has assembled and retained a highly dedicated and experienced team in an increasingly competitive talent pool, and together they are growing the portfolio of translational development projects with local investigators, QC testing platforms, tech transfer projects with commercial sponsors, IND submissions, and active clinical trials. In the past 8 years, the team has supported more than a dozen physician-scientists open 23 investigator-initiated trials (IIT), with an additional dozen IITs in various stages of development. To date, the OSU Cell Therapy team has manufactured autologous, allogeneic and off-the-shelf therapies including NK cells, TGFꞵ-imprinted NK (TiNK) cells, TCRαβ-depleted HPCs, pancreatic islets, virus-specific T cells, mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs), dendritic cells, and CAR-T cells. In addition, Dr. O’Donnell works with senior leadership of the university and medical center on strategic and expansion planning execution and has served on numerous national and international committees in the field of cell therapy, including leadership positions such as Global Secretary and North American Vice President for ISCT.
