Wesley McKinney BSc Laboratory Director of the Cell Processing Department Baylor College of Medicine Houston, TX USA

Wesley McKinney is the Laboratory Director of the Cell Processing Facility in the Center for Cell and Gene Therapy Department (CAGT), which is a part of Baylor College of Medicine, located in the Houston Medical Center.
Before being promoted to Lab Director in June 2022, Wesley who normally goes by Wes was a Tissue Engineer II for several years in the same department in charge of onboarding special projects (commercial CAR T Cell protocols, alpha/beta & CD19+ depletions, etc.) and training staff. After starting at entry level in 2008, Wesley has learned all facets of the Cell Processing Department from the ground up. Over the past 14 plus years, he has increased his knowledge of Hematopoietic Stem Cell transplant field while new innovative treatment options have also expanded rapidly as well.
Prior to joining Baylor College of Medicine Wes worked for a small genomics biotech lab named SeqWright after graduating from college in 2004. In true Wes fashion, he started as a DNA Sequencing Lab Tech and over the next four years he moved up to become the Manager of the Facility, Customer Service, and Small Projects 24 hour sequencing lab.
Wes was formally educated at McNeese State University (Geaux Cowboys!!!) and received a Bachelors of Science in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. He was informally educated by a ton of very smart people along way helping him become better at his craft and all the paperwork that came along with it.
