"MD (1998) and PhD, University of Salamanca (2004), with Honors. Specialist in Hematology (Residency at the University Hospital of Salamanca, 1999-2003). Postdoctoral Research Scholar at the Center for Stem Cell Biology (RWMC, Providence, RI, USA) in 2005-2006, with other shorter stays in different UK and US centers.  

Currently Head of the Hematology Department and Cell Therapy Area at the University Hospital of Salamanca, Full-Professor of Hematology & Cellular Therapy at the University of Salamanca and Coordinator of the Gene, Cell and Transplantation Area of the Institute of Biomedical Research of Salamanca (IBSAL), all in Salamanca, Spain.  He is the current Vice-President of ISCT Europe & Middle East Region (2023-2025), serving in several roles at JACIE, WBMT, and other international and national executive boards in the Cell and Gene Therapy field.

Past and current areas of interest include hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, mesenchymal stromal cells, extracellular vesicles and adoptive cellular therapy."
