Waseem Qasim is NIHR senior investigator, Professor of Cell and Gene Therapy, and consultant in paediatrics and immunology in London. He trained in Newcastle and specialised in paediatrics, immunology and bone marrow transplantation in London. He has a track record of leading translational research relating to T cell therapies, ranging from lentiviral vectors through to genome editing with CRISPR/Cas9 and base editing. Recent highlights have included the use of universal donor derived genome edited CAR T cells as ‘off-the-shelf’ therapies for leukaemia.
