Marcia is an experienced Biological Engineer and holds a PhD in Biotechnology from Instituto Superior Tecnico (Lisbon, Portugal). She has over 10 years’ experience in upstream bioprocessing on the cell and gene therapy field. As an Associate Lead at the Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult, and SME on upstream bioprocessing, Marcia has supported bioprocessing efforts across the CGTC Allogenic programme. More specifically, Marcia has been invested in the establishment of industry-ready iPSC expansion as 3D aggregates with seamless integration of scalable dynamic differentiation. She is also interested in exploring novel PAT technologies and associated analytics to improve process understanding, monitorization and control within the field.
