PFS Web: Consolidating Invoicing for Parcel Shipments
PFS Web and Redwood Logistics will present details on a phased implementation that includes inbound, outbound, parcel, TL, and LTL operations. Part of this implementation included configuring large parcel manifest invoicing in OTM. This implementation utilized Redwood’s connectivity platform, Redwood Connect™, for integrations. Redwood Connect™ receives a large manifest invoice and sends each line into OTM as a standard invoice. This presentation will explain how after matching, OTM utilizes a recurring process to consolidate all standard invoices with the same manifest in one parent invoice. It will highlight the use of workbenches to manage three phases of approval so users can review out of tolerance amounts, matching status, GL code assignment, shipment costs, and invoice costs while maintaining the flexibility to manage exceptions requiring rejection or editing.

Service Provider Compliance - Configuring Regulatory and Customer Requirements to Scale
The OTM Service Provider Manager can be configured to capture multiple types of information to solve business problems. This talk addresses two of those. The California Air Resources Board (CARB) is strictly regulating air pollutants in the state. If you do business in California, a systematic solution is required to ensure you aren’t securing loads to carriers that aren’t certified. In a multi-customer environment, the same Service Provider may be used across different customers, but the insurance requirements of those customers may differ. This talk discusses how to configure service providers insurance information, customer’s insurance requirements, and the steps needed to ensure Shipments are not tendered to carriers that don’t meet the insurance requirements.

Bringing Value to Business by Solving Carrier Capacity and Hours of Service Issues with Work Assignment
Work assignment is a feature of the fleet module of OTM but work assignment can also be utilized to manage non fleet carrier capacity. OTM capacity limit functionality counts each shipment against the available capacity of trucks for each LSP. Many times, the LSP uses a single truck to execute more than one shipment in a day, but OTM capacity limit functionality does not support that. This is where work assignment can help. Multiple shipments can be executed using a single truck but still count as one. It can also measure the total driving time across multiple shipments. This was extremely useful for the client in managing their carrier capacity and honoring the drive time for the driver as per the regulation in the country.

Predict to perform with OTM Machine Learning
Covid-19 drastically impacted the transportation industry and shipments all around the world were getting delayed. At that moment, we at Western Digital realized that having a metric to predict future outcomes would help us give a proper response to these unforeseen circumstances. This is what Predictive Modeling does. It analyzes historical and current data and generates a model to help predict future outcomes. We developed the following prediction models that follow the key phases in the life cycle of a transaction: 1) Prediction Capacity 2) Prediction Lead-time TRO 3) Prediction Arrival 4) Prediction Delay: Late Checkpoint’s arrival. We will show how this is possible in an efficient, effortless, and low-cost manner. Special thanks to the Oracle team and their Logistics Machine Learning (LML) Module, which leverages OTM historical shipment data with optimized algorithms and machine learning techniques to deliver highly accurate ETA prediction.

OTM Dock Scheduling at Trane Technologies to Improve User Productivity
Implementation of OTM Dock Scheduling at Trane Technologies allows the Trane facilities the ability to have carriers schedule their own dock times via OTM Scheduling Workbench. Previously appointments were assigned based on a Google Doc and a spreadsheet appointment chart. In this presentation, we will discuss the benefits of OTM Dock Scheduling including user productivity for logistics planning and streamlined appointment process standards. Defining appointments in OTM met the Dock manager, Carrier and Customer needs and centralized the process in one system. The session will also address the challenges of maintaining dock doors and calendars based on dock appointment survey data for around 300+ locations. Learn how Trane navigated the difference between warehouse requirements to balance volume based on dock location vs how actual appointment assignment is done and see how the dock appointment create/update process flows for multiple user roles including carrier, dock manager and planner.

OTM Driven Intelligent Notifications
With the ever-changing work landscape, (supply chain issues, driver and labor shortages, and remote & hybrid work environments) Penske had to reimagine how to ensure our operations and customers were receiving the shipment notifications required to fuel their business. Thus, we reengineered our entire OTM notification process to be more dynamic, flexible, and real-time. This session will illustrate how we expanded the number of notifications available from only a few to 11 standard notifications that range from Pickup, Delivery, ETA, Detention and Delay. We enhanced the modes of communication from not just email but SMS text options as well. To generate real time ETA’s, we pull driver’s current position from Cloud and calculate when the driver is potentially arriving at a stop. We also integrated with the 3rd party vendor HERE, to account for real-time traffic or weather conditions so that ETA’s were as accurate as possible. Come join us for this session to delve into the world of OTM driven notifications as we share the impact these changes have had for us!

The Effects of Real-Time API Pricing on Routing Guide Optimization
There are many ways the traditional routing guide is eroding from all sides. Some shippers are designating certain types of their freight to tender only to a real-time environment, others are getting rid of published back up rates and relying only on real-time, while at the same time some are not publishing as many carriers per lane. Join us to learn how shippers have harnessed the value of getting a fair market rate, from an established reliable provider, and sourcing capacity faster and cheaper than before, in this session discussing the digitization of routing guides.
